Les Petites Bêtes Soyeuses is a game of En Garde! (the swashbuckling role-playing game) using a postal or PBM format. Players negotiate with each other and then send orders for their character to the GM, Pevans (me!). I adjudicate what happens and produce a narrative report for all players. Players also get an individual character sheet. This sets out the attributes of their character and what happened to them in the month (game turn) just finished.
This format allows lots of people to play in a single game (LPBS has had as many as eighty players - far too many to fit round a table!). To allow players enough time to negotiate (often done by e-mail), there is a gap of a few weeks between turns. This also lets the GM catch his breath!
